Intervention Overview
This intervention is particularly suitable for all and can be tailored to individual and group needs and profiles.
NeuroTrace Photography is a place-based creative intervention that combines photography, exploration, and reflective practice to encourage participants to engage with the historical, cultural, and personal significance of a specific location. Through guided photographic activities, participants are invited to investigate traces of the past within a chosen environment and consider how these histories connect to their own experiences, identities, and sense of place in the present.
Participants are introduced to key photographic concepts and observational techniques before undertaking a structured exploration of the selected location. As they photograph features, details, and landmarks that capture their attention, they are encouraged to reflect on the stories, memories, and meanings associated with the space. The intervention promotes curiosity and mindful engagement, supporting participants in seeing familiar or unfamiliar environments from new perspectives.
Through individual image-making and facilitated group discussion, participants explore the relationship between place, memory, and identity. Photography serves as a creative tool for documenting observations, expressing personal interpretations, and developing a deeper appreciation of how environments shape individual and collective experiences. Opportunities for reflection and image sharing encourage participants to make connections between past and present while recognising the value of their own perspectives.
By combining photographic practice with historical exploration and personal reflection, the intervention aims to provide an engaging and meaningful experience that fosters self-awareness, strengthens connections to place, and supports the development of personal identity and wellbeing through creative expression.
